Biography Mr. Qiu Yufeng is a professorate senior engineer, who enjoys special government allowance from the State Council. He holds the posts of the secretary of leading Party group and vice-president of Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute, and is the director of the National Engineering Research Center of Transmission/Distribution and Power Saving Technology at present. He was the director of the Power Industry Technical Committee on Standardization Administration of Power Quality and Flexible AC Transmission System. He is mainly engaged in the research and development of flexible AC transmission, HVDC transmission and power system relay protection, etc. And he is one of the main pioneers in the field of high power electronics technology in China. He has hosted and completed several researches of National 863 Project and National 973 Project, etc. And he has also completed the development and engineering application of the first SVC for power transmission system in China, the world’s first 1000kV series compensation device, ±800kV UHVDC converter valve and the world’s first 200kV DC circuit breaker, etc., which made positive contributions to the construction and development of UHV power grid and smart grid in China. Mr. Qiu has received one National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, one National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology on Energy, and 16 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards. |
