Biography

Dr. Lin received the B.S. degree in organic chemistry from the Jiangxi University, now Nanchang University, Nanchang, China in 1986; M.S. degree in Polymer Chemistry from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun, China in 1989. He then retained in the same institute as a research scientist and worked there until 1993 before he went to The University of Hong Kong and received the PhD degree in Inorganic Chemistry in 1996. Lin worked as a postdoc fellow in The University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada and Max-Planck Institute of Radiation Chemistry, Mulheim, Ruhr, Germany. Lin has been working in electronic material industry since 2001, first Rohm and Hass, now part of Dow Chemicals and then in 2003 moved to Merck. Currently, Lin is the global head of R&D and technical services at one of business fields in Merck. Lin has published more than 60 technical papers and holds over 40 patents which cover photoresists, antireflective coatings, spin-on hardmasks, processing materials and DSA.
